United States v. Erica Hall

Eleventh Circuit, No. 11-14698. Decision: January 16, 2013.

Alfredo Izaguirre represented Hall in an appeal about the victim-count calculation used at sentencing. Following her guilty plea, the appellate court set aside the sentence and returned the matter for resentencing. That ruling concerned punishment; it was not an acquittal.

United States v. Norge Manduley

Trial coverage and Eleventh Circuit No. 13-13504. Appellate decision: September 26, 2014.

The jury acquitted Manduley of charges arising from the alleged carjacking, kidnapping and killing. The same proceeding also produced a marijuana-conspiracy conviction and a 240-month sentence, which the appellate court affirmed in 2014. The acquittals should be read with that additional outcome.
